Twitfessions Up and Running

Hi all, and welcome to Twitfessions.

This blog will help me to communicate news about the site, new features, random thoughts and incoherent blathering with all you Twitfessors out there.

I understand that Twitfessions is a pretty niche Twitter-based site, and so I'm not entirely sure how many new and amazing updates to the site there will be - but as the whole project is a bit of a fun time-killer for myself, there's no telling what weird mistakes neat additions I might implement.

Certainly if you have any suggestions or feedback, make use of that "contact" button up above.

Comments - how they work

The ability to post comments on the various Twitfessions collected here is a simple enough principle and one we're all familiar with as they relate to blogs.

However, because Twitfessions automatically pulls confessions from Twitter and the original twitfessor may be not be checking their posts here for comments, I wanted a way for the comment to get back to them.

The solution was remarkably simple - use Twitter.

I've set up a Twitter account for Twitfessions, and have a feed that automatically posts all comments as tweets (with a link back to the original twitfession).

Therefore, to make sure your comment on Twitfession hits the original twitfessor, simply @ them, just as you would if you were replying to them on Twitter.

For example, if I want to comment on a confession by my friend Rick (twittername: pandapassport), I would start my comment with @pandapassport.

Now Rick will receive an @ message (from Twitfessions) letting him know that someone's commented on his confession.
